Low Frequency Electrical Metrology Programs at NIST
نویسنده
چکیده
This paper provides a very brief overview of the capabilities and recent accomplishments of many of the low frequency electrical metrology projects at the National Institute of Standards and Technology. The projects presented here include the 5 main electrical measurement services projects (dc voltage, resistance, impedance, ac-dc difference, and electric power) and some electrical metrology related research projects, such as the manipulation of single electrons, redefinition of the SI, and Josephson voltage standards.

The Ampere and Electrical Standards
This paper describes some of the major contributions to metrology and physics made by the NIST Electricity Division, which has existed since 1901. It was one of the six original divisions of the National Bureau of Standards. The Electricity Division provides dc and low-frequency calibrations for industrial, scientific, and research organizations, and conducts research on topics related to elect...
متن کاملAdvanced Sensors for Accurate, Broadband AC Voltage Metrology
We report on advances in ac voltage metrology made possible by a new generation of Multijunction Thermal Converters (MJTCs). Although intended for use primarily in highfrequency (1 MHz to 100 MHz) metrology, their exceptional low-frequency qualities, combined with a large dynamic range, makes these MJTCs excellent devices for the frequency range 10 Hz to 100 MHz at voltages from 1 V to 20 V, de...
متن کاملSecond Generation Cesium Fountain Primary Frequency Standards at NIST
NIST is currently investigating the design of a second-generation cesium-fountain primary frequency standard. The design goals of this standard include an ultimate frequency inaccuracy of δf/f < 10 and achievable stability better than σy(τ) < 10/τ. This standard is expected to eventually replace NIST-F1, the current U.S. primary frequency standard [1]. In the context of reaching frequency uncer...

متن کاملStatus Report to CCEM of Electrical Metrology Developments at NIST
NIST researchers advanced the measurement and automation capabilities of quantum-based dc and ac programmable Josephson voltage standards (PJVS) such that the NIST PJVS is now capable of providing ac voltage measurements through differential sampling at voltages up to 10 V and frequencies up to 400 kHz. New automation software and hardware were implemented. Measurements of leakage resistance we...
